What's on and coming up...

Here's what's happening in our creative space, the Sail Loft, above the NaviStitch shop on Manningtree High Street over the coming weeks...

Marbles...

We are thrilled to have Anne Plummer and her 'Marbles' exhibition in our Sail Loft this week and next week - her work is so photo-realistic that you just want to grab those marbles from the frames! Don't miss this one - Anne's with us until Saturday 25th February

And then...

We're looking forward to holding our Spring Exhibition right the way through March. Featuring local artists of many different disciplines, the show will bring together so much creativity in two rooms - you won't want to miss this one.

From 4th March to 1st April, there's also a preview evening on Friday 3rd March from 5pm-8pm.

If you're a local artist, there's still time for you to submit your application - the closing date is this Saturday, 18th February. We're delighted to have had lots of incredible artists applying so far - it's going to be a tough job making the final call ... a tough job but we're lucky to be doing it!

And just like that, it's April!

We've got the amazingly talented Wivenhoe-based artist Ian Longhurst with us for two weeks from 5th to 16th April. His favourite medium is gouache and his paintings of birds in familiar surroundings are absolutely beautiful. FYI we're open on Good Friday and Easter Saturday as usual (and there may be chocolate!)

From the 19th to 29th April, we've got artist Kay Lucas and knitwear designer Pamela Hatswell who are exhibiting and also offering workshops from our Sail Loft. More details to come - keep your eye on our calendar to learn more, and to keep abreast of everything happening in our creative space.

Looking ahead...

If you're an artist or maker and are interested in hiring the Sail Loft for your exhibition, workshop or pop-up event, take a look at details of our space and how to book. At the moment there is availability in May, half of June and two or three weeks in September and October so don't delay!

We're hugely excited at all of the different events we've got coming up and, as last year has taught us, it's always great to have exhibitions of our own involving various artists - it's a good way of using our creative space, the Sail Loft, and we know you think so too so, as well as our Spring Exhibition, we'll be holding a Summer Exhibition and a Christmas Pop-up Shop. Also, throughout the year, we'll be taking part in lots of events happening in our fabulous town of Manningtree: The King's Coronation, Manningtree Earth Festival, Manningtree Beer Festival, Art Around the Walls and more ... keep subscribed and follow us on social media for more info.

In other news...

In our NaviStitch shop we've got lots of new greeting card designs and gift ideas as well as my own work. I'm currently working on lots of new unique, nautical stitched art and so I'm having a little bit of a sale on some selected pieces to make room. I've never had a sale before so why not nip on over and pick yourself up a completely original bargain!?

As always, I'm also working on commission pieces - on that note, don't forget that it's only just over 4 weeks to Mothers' Day. If your mum has happy coastal memories or seaside stories that a piece of nautical stitched art would help to remember, why not think about a bespoke commission? You tell me about the memory and I'll look through my extensive collection of nautical charts. We'll discuss the image or the craft and the thread colour/s and I'll get to work - take a look: https://www.navistitch.com/commissions

Until next time, I wish you calm waters and plain sailing

Sam
