Here's what's happening in our creative space, the Sail Loft, above the NaviStitch shop on Manningtree High Street over the coming weeks...
In the Sail Loft...
We're delighted to be able to show you the fabulous entries that we've had in the Manningtree Christmas Card competition - above are the adult submissions, below are the 16 and under entries. They're currently on the walls of our Sail Loft gallery and you're invited to come and place your votes! Entries are anonymous and all visitors to the NaviStitch shop between now and Saturday will be invited to vote for their favourites. The public vote will be combined with the judges' vote to determine the winning entries.
The winning designs (one adult, one 16 and under) ,will be printed and sold to raise funds for the Manningtree Stour Valley Rotary Club to distribute to local charities, specifically to include We Care Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre that look after our swans over the winter as well as coming to the aid of other animals in need in the Brantham and Manningtree area. The winners will have their design credited to them on the reverse of the card and will receive 12 copies of the card for their own use. The winner of the 16 and under category will also receive a £50 Lucca voucher and the winner of the adult category will receive a £50 Winyl voucher. Many thanks to Winyl and Lucca for their support with the prizes.
You've got until 4pm on Saturday to come in and place your vote!
And then...
On Wednesday next week we're looking forward to opening our doors to 'The Two', a collaborative exhibition by talented artists Sue Bedford, AKA Dotty Bee and Amanda Clement-Robinson. Showcasing a variety of styles in paint and print techniques, they're in the Sail Loft from 18th to 28th October.
Next up...
Our last exhibition before our Christmas Pop-up, we're looking forward to a father / son exhibition from 1st to 11th October: Tazzy Bro Photography will be sharing our Sail Loft Gallery with artist MATTRéSS. We can't wait for our walls to be lined with amazing photography of the local area and beyond, and bright, colourful abstract art. You'll also be able to buy Tazz's 2024 Calendar!
And then it's Christmas!
We're really pleased to be able to reveal those artists and makers taking part in our Christmas pop-up shop this year (although if you're a candle or soap maker, we've still got space for you!). Get the dates in your diary and be sure to add us to your list of Christmas shopping venues - with almost 30 different 'shops' within one, you'll be sure to get most of it wrapped up with us! Thanks to Tazzy Bro Photography for the pics last year.
In other news...
We were delighted to receive a Highly Commended award in the Creativity and Culture category of the Tendring4Growth event. We were also awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the Manningtree District Business Chamber for organising the Art Around the Walls trail, and for being an ambassador for Manningtree (2 certificates in one day, and both pretty special!). Congratulations also to Winyl who were runners up in the Tourism Category
And finally...
We've received a delivery of 'We Care Wildlife' Calendars and they're now for sale in the NaviStitch shop at £10 each. The calendar features photos of animals rescued this year and we're really happy to support such a good cause. It's one of the local charities benefitting from our Manningtree Christmas Card competition too. We Care is a small, voluntary wildlife rescue and rehabilitation service for the Brantham Manningtree and surrounding area adn they do such a great job.
As we've been talking of Christmas, it's never too early to plan ahead. If you're thinking about something bespoke and personal for someone special this year, why not talk to me about a piece of nautical stitched art to help with a special memory or place? If you fancy commissioning a piece of tailored artwork for Christmas, or for a special occasion, take a look at how easy it is.
Until next time, I wish you calm waters and plain sailing
Sam
